Hope in the Midst of Poverty

I have been to Ecuador three times to work with the people in a small town. The last two times I’ve spent time in La Invasion. A place named after the people who came and “invaded” the land that they did not own. Now they are their legally, but live in bamboo houses built on stilts because of the floods that come every year. I love this picture, because in the midst of such poverty, in the housing conditions that we wouldn’t even begin to accept, they plant flowers. Flowers, color, hope in the midst of poverty. Beauty in the midst of struggle. I can’t wait to go back.

Awesome shot 🙂 I have visited many 3rd world countries and it amazes me where God’s glorious creation overshadows the depth of poverty for a moment!

    Merry Christmas!
